WASHINGTON (December 7, 2016)βToday, President-elect Donald Trumpβs transition team announced the nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt as a candidate for administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The 51ΑΤΖζΘλΏΪ issued the following response:
βScott Pruittβs nomination as the anti-EPA Administrator causes us deep concern,β said David Yarnold (), 51ΑΤΖζΘλΏΪβs president and CEO. βThe Environmental Protection Agencyβs work has always been based on science, but Pruitt is a climate change denier who has worked to dismantle well-grounded protections for clean air and clean water.
βThose protections have benefited birds and kids for decades and the next administrationβs EPA needs to base its work on scientific consensus, something Pruitt hasnβt shown a willingness to do. We urge the Senate to hold an EPA administrator to those basic standards.β
