Cassidy began her journey of natural discovery while on a hike with some friends at the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area. Where she only saw trees and 鈥渘ature鈥, her friend was excitedly pointing out and chasing after innumerable bugs and other wildlife critters that she had never noticed before. With a newfound love for insects and the places they inhabit, Cassidy began volunteering at Mitchell Lake 51猎奇入口 Center in 2023, where she learned about the importance of habitat management and Mitchell Lake鈥檚 mission to provide a safe space for migrating and year-round birds.
When the position for 鈥淟and and Facilities Management Assistant鈥 opened, Cassidy applied immediately. She maintains trails, gardens, tools and vehicles, as well as providing a warm and welcoming guest experience and contributing to ecological restoration efforts around Mitchell Lake. Most of all, Cassidy wants everyone who visits Mitchell Lake to have the same eye-opening experience she had at Lewisville Lake.
Born and raised in Texas, Cassidy is a huge bug nerd and lover of all critters some may consider to be dangerous, aggressive or otherwise unwanted. Her personal favorites are spiders and wasps of all kinds and species, notably the cuckoo wasp and bold jumping spider. When not maintaining trails and talking to bugs she finds, Cassidy can be found picking the banjo, snuggling with her dog Charlie and telling anyone who will listen about the bugs she loves so dearly.
