Aiming Higher

Welcome to The Canopy

With annual gifts starting at $10,000, Canopy members play a critical role in advancing 51’s work and inspiring others to take action. Thanks to the generosity of this growing community, 51 is implementing the most ambitious strategic plan in our 120-year history. Flight Plan sets 51’s course for the next decade, channeling the full strength of our organization to address the climate and biodiversity crises through the power of birds.

Exclusive Member Benefits

"As the impacts of climate change continue to accelerate for birds and people alike, I realized I couldn’t sit on the sidelines. With their vertical integration from research and fieldwork to direct policy recommendations, I found 51 best-equipped to give us a fighting chance at protecting the birds we love most."

Jacob Meisel, Canopy Member

Through exclusive communications and events, The Canopy offers a space for conservation-minded leaders to connect with one another and the birds that spur us to action.

Meet conservation experts
Canopy members receive insider access to 51 leaders and partners during in-person and virtual events, along with exclusive digital updates like our Canopy newsletter, On the Wing.

See 51’s work up close
Canopy member-only excursions are guided by experts in the field across our vast network of Conservation Action Centers and Sanctuaries—from Bobcat Ranch in California to 51’s seabird islands in the Gulf of Maine.

Connect with fellow birders
Canopy members are united by their love of birds. As part of The Canopy, you will build relationships that span distances and perspectives—spark birds and nemesis birds—while participating in shared experiences like birding tours.
